Promo Conflict Cancellation

Cannibalization mid-promo. Models kill-or-narrow, ends the overlap.

Target KPI Net promo lift
Executes in ≤ 2 hours
System of record Promo engine · POS · SAP CAR
Trigger condition

Mid-flight net category lift below threshold, default +3%, from cross-SKU cannibalization or overlap with a concurrent halo SKU.

Write-back

Promo end-date pushed in the promo engine; flag set in SAP CAR; POS price-rule expired.

Every write is gated on an approver role you name. Nothing runs unattended.

Procedure
  1. Decompose gross lift into incremental, cannibalized, pulled-forward, and pantry-loaded volume.
  2. Identify the overlapping promo or adjacency eating the lift.
  3. Model kill A, kill B, narrow scope, change discount. Show expected net lift under each.
  4. Open a case to the category merchandising lead. Cancellation gated on approval.
  5. Close when net category lift returns above threshold or the promo ends.
Outcome metric

Net category lift for the rest of the window vs. the modeled counterfactual. Positive if it clears threshold within 48 hours.

The case closes on this number, not on the action being taken. A playbook without a close condition is a dashboard.
