Define a metric once. Every person and every agent resolves it the same way.

Why the definition sits above the query

Two dashboards disagree because two people wrote two queries. Putting the definition above the query is the only fix that survives staff turnover. It matters more with agents than it ever did with people, because an agent will write a plausible query against the wrong column and present the result with exactly the confidence of a right one.

Inferred from the reports you already publish

Nobody writes down what a metric means. They write down the report that uses it. Ward AI reads those reports and proposes definitions from them, flagging the ones where two documents disagree. This is the step that usually eats the schedule.

Every number traces back to the source column it came from. When a figure is questioned in a meeting, the answer takes a minute rather than a day.
